A government advisory to avoid all travel to Ukraine has been in effect as of February 1, 2022. If you absolutely must travel to Ukraine or Europe, we recommend that you fully understand what your travel insurance covers, the associated exclusions and be fully informed of the risks of traveling during this time.
Our Emergency Medical Care benefit covers COVID-19 and its variants, unless it is a pre-existing condition prior to departure.
If you need written proof of your insurance coverage for COVID-19, you will find this information in the last section of your travel insurance certificate.
Emergency repatriations are covered only if the person's medical condition requires it, subject to the approval of the medical authorities concerned.

Main destination

Please enter the name of the country corresponding to your trip destination. If you are a visitor to Canada, please select “Canada”.

If you are visiting more than one country, enter the one you will be spending the most time.

For a multi-trip coverage, select “Cruise or various countries” or “Other”.

Place of residence

Canadian residents: select the province where you live in Canada.
Non residents (visitors to Canada, foreign students/workers or immigrants and Canadian citizens who are not covered under a provincial health plan): select “Outside Canada”.

Departure date from your province of residence

The departure date is the date you plan to leave your province of residence. For example, if you are going on a cruise, your date of departure should be the day you are boarding the ship. For a multi-trip plan, enter the departure and return dates of the longest trip you're planning to do within the next year.

Return date to your province of residence

The return date is the date you plan to return to your province of residence. For a multi-trip plan, enter the departure and return dates of the longest trip you're planning to do within the next year.

Arrival date in Canada

The arrival date in Canada is the date you arrived or the date you plan to arrive in Canada.

Departure date from Canada

The departure date from Canada is the date you plan to leave Canada. For foreigner workers/students, immigrants or returning Canadians, select the date you want your insurance coverage to end.

Travellers dates of birth

Please enter a valid date of birth for each person to be insured. The date of birth is required to provide the correct quote price. The person designated as primary traveller will be mentioned on the insurance certificate as the contract holder.

Trip duration

The duration of the trip considers each day of your trip.

Canadian Residents: The date of departure from your province of residence is Day 1 of your trip, and the date you plan to return to your province of residence is the last day of your trip. For example: if you leave your province of residence on April 5th and are back on April 12th, the total duration of your trip is 8 days.

Visitors to Canada: The date of your arrival in Canada is the first day of your trip, and the date you plan to leave Canada is the last day of your trip. For example: if you arrive in Canada on May 2nd * and leave on May 31st, the total duration of your trip is 30 days.
* If you purchase your insurance after your arrival in Canada, the coverage period will be recalculated to reflect the date of purchase of your insurance since coverage is not retroactive.

Emergency medical care

This insurance covers emergency medical costs in case of an accident or sudden illness during your trip.

Trip cancellation

This coverage insures the trip costs if a serious or unforeseen event forces you to cancel, modify, interrupt or extend the planned trip.
You will be able to add our Optional Protection: Pandemic to this coverage.

Optional Protection: Pandemic

The Optional Protection: Pandemic reimburses travel expenses normally excluded under the Trip Cancellation or Interruption coverage.
The level of protection varies depending on whether or not a Canadian government travel advisory in relation to a pandemic is in effect on the date coverage takes effect.
To be valid, the Optional Protection: Pandemic must be purchased within 5 days following the date of the first deposit for the trip and at the same time as the Trip Cancellation or Interruption coverage. If your first deposit was made more than 5 days ago, but your travel departure date is 45 days or more away, please contact our Customer Relations Centre.

Total cost of non-refundable expenses

INCLUDE the total cost of expenses for the trip and are non-refundable (deposits, transportation costs, hotel, package tours, etc)

DO NOT INCLUDE:
- Refundable travel costs.
- Trip cost purchased by redemption points or miles programs.

If there is no trip cost or you do not require a trip cancellation enter 0 or leave it blank.

Terms and conditions

1- Eligibility
Each person to be insured confirms that he/she meets the following criteria:

- You are a Canadian resident.
- You purchase the policy before your departure and the coverage duration is equal to your travel duration, including departure and return date.
- You depart from your province of residence and return to it at the end of the trip.
- Your provincial health insurance card is valid and will be valid for the entire duration of your trip.

In addition, to be eligible, none of the persons to be insured who are 55 years old and over should:
- Have received medical advice not to travel.
- Suffer from a medical condition in a terminal stage.
- Suffer from kidney failure treated with dialysis.
- Have been diagnosed with or treated for metastatic cancer in the past 5 years.
- Have been prescribed or treated with home oxygen in the past 12 months.

2- Emergency Medical Care and Trip Cancellation or Interruption coverages - Exclusions due to pre-existing medical conditions
A pre-existing medical condition refers to an illness, an injury or to an existing health issue.

In order for a pre-existing medical condition to be covered during a trip, it must remain stable for several months.

For the Emergency Medical Care coverage:

Age 54 and under: 3 months stability before departure date
Age 55 and over: 6 months stability before departure date

For the Trip Cancellation or Interruption coverage:

Any age: 3 months stability before the effective date of coverage

For a pre-existing medical condition to be considered stable, it must meet all the following criteria:
1. No new medical diagnosis has been made
2. No new symptoms appeared and there was no worsening or increase in the frequency of existing symptoms
3. No hospitalization has taken place
4. No new medication was prescribed or recommended
5. No change of dosage¹ was made to a medication already prescribed or recommended (dose increased or decreased, or consumption stopped)
6. No new treatment or medical test is pending or has been prescribed, ongoing or recommended
7. No ongoing treatment has been changed or discontinued
8. No prescribed or recommended treatment, nor medical advice has been ignored
9. Not have required the use of nitroglycerin more than once in a 7-day period for the relief of chest pains related to a heart condition
10. Not have required home oxygen treatments or corticosteroid therapy related to a pulmonary condition

¹ The insurer does not consider the following elements as a change of dosage of existing medication:
- Routine insulin or Coumadin^® adjustment
- Replacement of a medication by an equivalent generic brand if its dosage remains unchanged
- Decrease in dosage of cholesterol medication
- Adjustment to hormone replacement therapy treatment
- Change in consumption of non-prescribed medication such as: Aspirin^®, vitamins, minerals, etc.
- Use of cream or ointment prescribed for skin irritation

Details concerning the Annual product
If you purchase the Annual product, you must understand that exclusions relating to pre-existing medical conditions apply to each new trip.
Therefore, the effective date of the various coverages is considered at the time of each new departure and/or at the time of the first prepayment made to secure the availability of a new trip.

3- All coverages - Limitations and reductions of coverage and other exclusions
It is important to understand that the travel insurance contract contains limitations and reductions of coverage and other exclusions that are specific to each coverage you purchase. These restrictions are detailed in the travel insurance policy, a document you must read before the effective date of your contract.

For example, if the purchased product includes the Emergency Medical Care or the Trip Cancellation or Interruption coverage, in addition to the exclusions related to pre-existing medical conditions, other exclusions apply, for instance high-risk sports or activities, excessive use of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicating substances, acts of war and civil unrest. Moreover, only care or treatments that are covered by your government health and hospitalization plan are covered by this travel insurance. For example, treatment provided for esthetic purposes is excluded.

If the purchased product includes the Trip Cancellation or Interruption coverage, limitations and reductions of coverage as well as other exclusions related to this coverage will apply. Therefore, under this coverage, the reason leading to a claim must be serious enough and justify that the trip be cancelled, changed or interrupted. Also, the reason must not be known at the time of purchase of the insurance, nor appear under this coverage's exclusions, limitations and reductions of coverage. If the product includes the Trip Cancellation or Interruption coverage and the Optional Protection: Pandemic, both must be purchased at the same time and within 5 days of the first non-refundable deposit made for the trip.

If the selected product includes the Baggage or Accidental Death or Dismemberment coverage, other limitations and reductions of coverage and other exclusions apply. For example, the maximum refundable amount is $300 per item for the Baggage coverage. As for the Accidental Death or Dismemberment coverage, it includes, among other things, exclusions relating to terrorism and to the participation in a criminal or illegal act.

1- Insurance eligibility
To be eligible for insurance, all insured person must meet the following conditions:

Eligible customers
This insurance is designed for people who are betwwen 31 days and 79 years of age at the time of purchase and who are not covered by a public health insurance plan.
It is offered to:

Immigrants or permanent residents awaiting coverage by a public health insurance plan or people who have completed the steps to obtain such status
Foreign workers in Canada who possess a work permit
Foreign students in Canada who possess a study permit
Canadian citizens returning home after a long absence
Super Visa applicants and holders in Canada
Visitors to Canada

Allowable purchase period
The contract must be purchased:
- Before your date of arrival in Canada, or
- Before the termination date of an insurance coverage in Canada similar to ours that you hold with another insurance complany, or
- Within 30 days of either of the two preceding dates.

Medical eligibility requirements
To be eligible for insurance, in addition to meeting the requirements listed above, none of the insureds must:
1. Have received medical advice not to travel
2. Suffer from a medical condition in a terminal stage
3. Suffer from kidney failure treated with dialysis
4. Have been diagnosed with or treated for metastatic cancer
5. Have been diagnosed with, had treatments or taken medication for cancer in the past 12 months (with the exception of basal cell carcinoma)
6. Suffer from heart failure or cardiomyopathy
7. Be waiting for an organ transplant for one or several of the following: kidneys, lungs, liver, heart, bone marrow, pancreas
8. Have used home oxygen or taken cortisone pills for a pulmonary condition in the past 24 months

2- Exclusions due to pre-existing medical conditions
A) Medical conditions excluded (people of all ages)
1. If an insured person has already undergone one of the procedures mentioned below, or has already suffered or is currently suffering from one of the following cardiovascular conditions, all of the following cardiovascular condtions will not be covered: bypass, angioplasty, defibrillator, heart attack, aortic aneurysm, angina, valvular heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia, tachycardia, bradycardia).

2. If one of the insured persons has already suffered or is currently suffering from one of the following conditions, all of the following pulmonary conditions will not be covered: chronic bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fribrosis, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

3. If one of the insured persons has had a stroke (cerebrovascular accident) or TIA (transient ischemic attack), both of these neurological conditions are not covered.

By suffered, we mean that during his/her lifetime, one of the insured persons has:
- Consulted a doctor, or;
- Been diagnosed, or;
- Been treated, or been recommended to be treated for, or;
- Been hospitalized, or;
- Been prescribed or taken medication, or;
- Undergone a procedure or has been recommended to undergo a procedure, or;
- Been tested or been recommended to undergo testing for one of the mentioned conditions.
Having ignored symptoms that can lead to one of these conditions also constitutes grounds for exclusion.

B) Other exclusions due to pre-existing medical conditions
A pre-existing medical condition refers to an illness, injury or an existing health condition.

For Emergency medical care, in order for a pre-existing medical condition other than the ones mentioned in the Medical conditions excluded to be covered, stability of several months is required before the effective date of coverage:

Age 54 and under: 3 months of stability
Age 55 and over: 6 months of stability

For a pre-existing medical condition to be considered stable, it must meet all the following criteria:
1. No new medical diagnosis has been made
2. No new symptoms appeared and there was no worsening or increase in the frequency of existing symptoms
3. No hospitalization has taken place
4. No new medication was prescribed or recommended
5. No change of dosage¹ was made to a medication already prescribed or recommended (dose increased or decreased, or consumption stopped)
6. No new treatment or medical test is pending or has been prescribed, ongoing or recommended
7. No ongoing treatment has been changed or discontinued
8. No prescribed or recommended treatment, nor medical advice has been ignored
9. Not have required the use of nitroglycerin for any heart condition

3- Other exclusions
It is important to understand that the Visitors to Canada insurance contract contains exclusions in addition to the exclusions related to pre-existing medical conditions. All the exclusions are detailed in the insurance policy, a document you must read before the effective date of your contract.

For example, the contract contains exclusions such as "Pregnancy, childbirth, or related complications", "High-risk sports or activities", "Use of alcohol, drugs and other intoxicating substances", "Act of war and civil unrest", etc.

In addition, this product does not cover non-urgent care, such as regular check-ups with a physician, precription refills or follow-up visits for a chronic or stabilized condition.

4. Secondary trips outside Canada
The insurance coverage may apply to side trip outside Canada. For a side trip to be covered, all of the following criteria must be met:

Must begin and end in Canada
Must take place entirely within the coverage period
Must not exceed 30 days

In addition, the total duration of all side trips undertaken during the coverage period must not exceed 49% of the contract term.
